In January 2017, Sela took on the Trust's exciting new role as Youth Development Champion . Sela is a true champion for young people and believes that every young person is born with a unique purpose. Sela has had a longer involvement with the Trust, having sat on the Trust's Youth Advisory Group for several years.
The Youth Development Champion role is an innovative opportunity to create and spread local awareness and expertise about positive youth development, for the benefit of our young people.
Sela's role is to promote positive youth development across Greater Christchurch and to create a centre of excellence to provide leadership, best practice, support and training in positive youth development to organisations and groups that engage with young people. Learn more here.
Sela is also the founder of No Limits, a performing arts programme for Maori and Pacific youth, aged between 12 and 24 in Canterbury. The programme gives Maori and Pacific young people a platform for their voices to be heard, valued and understood by creating a vehicle for the young people to devise, rehearse and perform a show which powerfully addresses the social issues that affect their ability to engage and achieve at school and in life.
